Healthy For You – Relaxing With Candles

Scented candles are one of the easiest and most effective ways to cover odors in our house. Relaxing with candles create a relaxing environment to let go all of our tension after having a long day at work. The calming of candle light makes us feel warm and cozy inside. The candle flame that helps soothe our soul which reduces stress. Swaying of the flame helps us to calm down and achieve a meditative mind set. The flicker of flame of light that comes from the candle is caught by our sight and it is sent to our minds for processing. When we look at this light our body begins to relax and helps us feel emotionally and physically.


Just picture yourself coming home on a hard day of work and all you want to do is relax as soon as you can. You put on some comfortable clothes, cook some dinner for the family, clean around the house and get the kids ready for bed. Then you light up some of your favorite scented candles. You sit back in your favorite chair, inhale deeply and smell your favorite candle.

You can just picture yourself coming home and change into your comfortable clothes do some lite cooking, clean up a bit. Take care of the kids and put them to bed. Then lite some of your favorite scented candles and take a nice hot bath with bubbles. Then close your eyes and let your nose smell the sweet aromas. This will totally relax every muscle in your body and release all the tension you are feeling in your mind and body.

Nothing is better than lighting a candle, putting on soft music and listening to your favorite music and making some hot cocoa or hot herbal tea, reading a book while sitting on your favorite comfy chair with a soft warm blanket next to the crackling fire smelling your favorite seasonal candle on a cold, windy, and rainy day.


My favorite time relaxing with candles is one of my favorite things to do. I just love to light a candle anytime of day or night. I like looking at the flames. My deep breathing technique to smell my favorite candle it puts me in a place where I can completely relax. Then I am in relaxing mode and everybody know to leave me alone.

My perfect time to relax with a candle is on a cool breeze summer night. Being outdoors in my backyard sitting on my patio chair with my feet up on the other chair. Drinking a tall glass of ice tea or lemonade. Having my favorite candle on the table while enjoying looking up at the billions of twinkling stars. Feeling the fresh air cooling my body down from the hot summer day.

When I go to a store I would make the point to stop and smell the of candles on display. When I am tempted to buy a candle it would be hard for me to just pick one. I could spend hours just smelling all the candles. I love getting lost with all the smells. My kids would get tired of waiting for me that they would direct to where we need to go instead of me seeing and smelling all the candles. Sometimes they would let me go to the store by myself which made me happy because that would give more time to smell the candles.


There are health benefits of burning candles. They can benefit to your health. It is part of a healthy lifestyle that takes care of your mind. Candle burning can provide the perfect scene. It will calm all of our senses and this will be for the good of our health. Candles with essential oils can fill our home with a soft aroma that can allow our minds to relax and help with our mental health. It doesn’t matter how we choose to use our candles. Candles make us feel relaxed and this can lead to more energy, better sleep. It can improve our immune system. We can have less pain and be more happy. Burning candles in our home especially in the room where we spend a lot of our time have very good for our overall healthy and are spiritual benefits. For many years candles have been used in many religious and spiritual traditions. Lighting a candle is a ritual and a symbol for spiritual ceremonies. It calms and clears the mind so we can allow ourselves to focus on our thoughts. By doing this it can help us get closer spiritually and make us feel calm and relaxed. This can also make us feel at peace with ourselves. Mediation can provide your senses of spirituality.

The dangers of candles that are made with lead-core wicks. They release five times the amount of lead and are considered to be very harmful. They could cause us to be sick or cause cancer to us and our families. Read all labels when buying candles.

 ***Warning!!! If we light candles daily and many years or just smelling them frequently can give off dangerous pollutants in the air that could give us health risks like allergies, asthma and even cancer.

The safe candles that use a cotton paper wick made with 100% soy, beeswax, coconut wax, hemp oil or some combination that doesn’t contain any paraffin in it. These candles can be with essential oils and can be either unscented or scented.

My Opinion On Candles

Doing this research on candles has taught me how to be cautious when buying candles. My opinion I will continue to buying candles. I will read the label before I smell and buy them from now on. Candles still have a lot of health benefits to our overall healthy lifestyles. They are still soothing and relaxing. I enjoy having a candle near me in whatever room I am in like the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and the living room. Candles can brighten up any room with its glow. Candles can quickly fill our home with a combination of fragrances and a nice warm light. It will make us feel more pleasant and relaxed. They come in a wide variety of scents, colors, shapes, and sizes. There are many kinds of candles. So make your choices and be careful.

  2. My favourite candle scent is vanilla and chocolate.
    Usually, I use them on my birthday or when my friends come home for a “spa” day as we call it. Which includes usually painting our toenails and cooking ridiculous recipes. 😛
